Archiving disabled for new Mailboxes

I was doing my regular health check up on EV servers and noticed many of the mail boxes not archiving. Further investigation found we have those mail boxes not enabled for archiving.

Provisioning Task shows below error message for multiple mail boxes and it seems somehow the GUID of the mail boxes where changed.

This could be as a result of the Exchange crash we had previously.

          New mailbox has an existing entry in the Enterprise Vault database. The mailbox GUID does not match the entry in the database.

Came across the Symantec KB and the solution was to create a new Registry entry to link new GUID mailboxes with the old Archives.

Create below entry on the provisioning task running Server

HKLM\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Agents\SynchInMigrationMode

DWORD entry with Data value -1

The values are as follows:
0 – (Default.) Generate an error in the event viewer log.
1 – Link the new mailbox to the old record.
2 – Create a new record for the new mailbox

Run the Provisioning Task and the mailbox will be linked to the old record.
